Secret Entrance
It’s easier to coerce a smile on a sunny day
when cheeks are chipmunk-large
and eyes are squinty slits
It’s easier to play hooky on a sunny day
ignoring the texts and rings
squeezing ten minutes from a cigarette
It’s easy to forget the harsh brutality of winter
when skirts come up
and necklines plunge
and old folks laugh like kids in the street
