Lucky Old Souls @ Moonstone Presents
CLASSICAL REVOLUTION
ABDUR RASHID TRIO

CLASSICAL REVOLUTION presents Schubert’s Fantasy in F minor for 4-hands piano performed by TIM RIBCHESTER & the Philadelphia Orchestra’s DAVYD BOOTH and Bach’s Suite No. 2 in B minor with Jennifer Swanson, flute; Veronica Jurkiewicz, viola; Erin Ryan Barnes, cello; and others. CLASSICAL REVOLUTION: Live chamber music for the people. The Philadelphia chapter of an international movement, the Classical Revolution is a collective of musicians who believe in the relevance of classical music and are bringing it outside of traditional venues. In their own words: “We hope to integrate this music into Philadelphia’s nightlife, giving people who do not otherwise hear it live the opportunity to engage intimately with it and its interpreters. Currently in its inaugural stages, Classical Revolution Philly seeks to create an avenue for music-making which involves passionate professional, emerging, and nonprofessional musicians alike. Our performers include members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, local professionals, conservatory and non-conservatory students alike. We love chamber music, and we believe that everyone can enjoy the music that we love.”

ABDUR RASHID TRIO: Abdur Rashid, piano; Warren Oree, bass; James Holton, drums. Pianist ABDUR RASHID has been making music in his native Philadelphia for over 4 decades. He formed his first band, The Spirit of the Masses, in the ‘60s with saxophonist Umar Raheem. During the next decade he was a member of former Jazz Messenger Jymie Merritt’s band, before joining drummer Sunny Murray in New York. Along the way, Abdur Rashid has also played with Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, and Alice Coltrane.

Lucky Old Souls @ Moonstone is a monthly event, showcasing some of Philadelphia’s most creative musicians in a laid-back, BYOB venue that combines the intimacy of a club with a concert hall’s respect for the music. – A Lucky Old Souls production – www.luckyoldsouls.com
